FAQ

#1 - What is DBDLeague?

DBDLeague is an independent eSports organisation to play Dead by Daylight competitively. We are officially supporters by the developers, Behaviour Interactive. We host three major tournaments throughout the year and many more smaller events and streams for the wider community.

#2 - What is the difference between comp and “normal” DBD?

In competitive DBD, players and teams are restricted much more than in the normal game mode. Each perk can only be used once across the entire survivor team, and many perks are not allowed at all. Aura-reading perks are banned because they provide free information that should instead be gained through game sense, and other perks are restricted if they create problematic interactions with certain killers (e.g., strong exhaustion perks against the weaker Trapper). We balance for each individual killer to ensure the most fair and competitive experience. We also do not score by blood points but by hook stages and completed generators.

#3 - How to play 1v1s?

Normally in Dead by Daylight is 1 Killer vs 4 Survivors.
But in a 1v1, it’s just one Killer vs one Survivor — a stripped-down version made for competition and practice.

Instead of playing the full match with generators, hooks, and escapes, the goal is much simpler:
The Killer tries to catch the Survivor as fast as possible, and the Survivor tries to last as long as possible in the chase.

1v1s are a skill-focused, competitive mini-game inside DBD.
They help players practice, compete, and have fun without the chaos of a normal 4v1 match.

#5 - Account was banned, what do I do?

If your account/your friend's account, etc., was banned on the DBDLeague's official Discord server, you may use this Google form to contact our community manager: https://forms.gle/H46AZ7c7MFRHvfn26. Please ensure your email address is reachable, as the decision will be sent to the email address you provide. The review may take up to a few weeks; please be aware.

#6 - How does 4v1 work?

In our competitive 4v1 Dead by Daylight tournaments, each matchup is played in a mirrored format to ensure fairness. The killer from Team A first faces the survivors from Team B, and afterwards, the killer from Team B plays against the survivors from Team A. Both trials are held on the same map with the same killer to keep conditions equal. The teams’ performances are then compared based on completed generators, achieved hook stages, and individual survivors hooked. The team with the stronger overall result is declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the set is either replayed or decided through special additional rules designed for tie-breaking.

#7 - Why are comp players camping and tunneling?

In competitive Dead by Daylight, camping and tunneling are common strategies because top players aim to play as efficiently as possible. While these tactics are often viewed negatively in casual matches, in a competitive environment it is frequently necessary for the killer to secure an early elimination in order to stay on pace against highly skilled survivor teams. Tunneling in particular becomes far more challenging at this level, as survivors are extremely efficient on generators and use coordinated strategies such as body blocking or rescue perks to protect their teammates. This constant back-and-forth creates unique dynamics between the killer’s attempt to secure an elimination and the survivors’ counterplay. Within the competitive scene, players generally accept camping and tunneling as valid and essential strategies.

#8 - How can we play in DBDL?

There are several ways to make it into DbD League and take part in our tournaments. A good first step is joining our Discord server, where you can look for a team through our dedicated channels or respond to team applications posted there. Another way to get noticed is by playing on our 1v1 leaderboard, practicing your chases, and making a name for yourself as a skilled player. From time to time, we also host community or scrim nights where you and your teammates can get a first taste of competitive Dead by Daylight, test your skills, and see how the competitive scene feels. To participate in our main events, it is important to already be part of an established team within the community, but joining scrim nights or smaller tournaments and leaving a strong impression is an excellent way to start building your reputation. We are not only looking for future performance, but also for teams that show dedication, play fair, and behave respectfully within the community. If you have any further questions about how to qualify for our tournaments, you are always welcome to create a ticket on our Discord server and we will be happy to guide you.
